 Lefty’s 1200 Club is a great place to dine if you’re looking to experience true Atlantic City Culture. The Italian restaurant is a local favorite and, because of its inconspicuous location, is rarely bombarded by tourists. Incidentally, Lefty’s occupies one of the most historic buildings in the Atlantic City area. The structure was originally an early 19th-century fruit market, complete with a steel green awning that extends outward from the building – constructed originally to protect the produce being hocked on the street. Patrons can sample a wide array of Italian cuisine, the same dishes that, along with those of other local restaurants, put Atlantic City on the culinary map. The décor is elegant and somewhat Renaissance themed, with high-ceiling, large windows offering views of the street, Italian art adorning the walls, and Corinthian-style columns supporting the ceiling. Live piano music plays during dinner hours. Lefty’s also features a nightclub – the 1200 Club - in back of the restaurant, which also houses live music.
Lefty’s is not a family-oriented establishment, though they are happy to accommodate families of most sizes. It is more of a romantic establishment, so if you’re looking for a place to bring the kids, you might consider elsewhere. |
